How do you create a beautiful and low-water use median strip?

Median strips along sidewalks in the EBMUD service area often exceed their water budget up to 200 percent. On Monday, September 16, 2019 Patricia St. John, Horticultural Instructor at Merritt College and Owner of St. John Landscapes and Laura Henry Kukulski, Landscape Designer, will present eye-catching designs and plant palettes of low-water use median strips. Come take a virtual tour with us around the EBMUD service area to view these beautiful, water-wise, narrow garden designs.

Patricia has been designing gardens for the past 25 years and has completed more than 400 garden designs on both sides of the San Francisco Bay.  Six of her gardens have received international design awards.  Her gardens have been featured in books Sunset Backyard Garden Guide and Landscape Ideas that Work and in Better Homes and Gardens and Sunset magazines.  Patricia is a California Certified Nursery Professional and a Certified Professional Landscape Designer. 

Laura has been practicing Landscape Design for five years. Laura has a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Art and Computer Modeling and an Associate Degree in Landscape Architecture. As the Association of Professional Designer Bay Area District Communication Chair, she keeps homeowners and professional members informed on upcoming garden events.

The meeting will be held at the EBMUD Administration Building at 375 11th Street in Oakland on the second floor. The Administration Building is conveniently located near the 12th Street Oakland City Center BART station.  Please arrive promptly. Light refreshments will be served.

Public transportation is encouraged. If public transportation is not an option, validated parking is available at the Pacific Renaissance Plaza garage on Webster Street. Bring your token to the meeting and EBMUD will validate. Please note, there is no parking available in the EBMUD parking garage.
