What are EBMUD’s water conservation plans for the next decade?

EBMUD has a long history of promoting water conservation, and it continues to be an important component of EBMUD’s overall water supply portfolio. The Water Conservation Strategic Plan (WCSP) serves as a roadmap to help EBMUD meet its long-term water supply reliability goals, prepare for droughts, help customers manage their water bills, and comply with regulatory requirements.

The 2021 WCSP complements other EBMUD planning documents, including the Water Loss Control Plan, the Urban Water Management Plan, and the Demand Study and covers a ten-year planning horizon, from 2021 through 2030. It builds on previous work and has been developed to meet the water conservation target of 70 Million Gallons per Day (MGD) conserved in the year 2050.

Here to walk us through this ambitious plan is EBMUD Water Conservation Manager Alice Towey. Over the past fourteen years, Alice has worked in various EBMUD divisions including water recycling, water resources planning, and water conservation. Alice holds a BA in Physics from Bryn Mawr College and a Masters in Environmental Engineering from University of California, Berkeley.

This event qualifies for CEU's from AWWA, ReScape CA, Master Gardeners, and QWEL.
